About the only thing missing from this picture is a whole
lotta snow! New England didn't see much snow over the winter of
2005-2006; it was highly unusual for the Korbs to be able to see the lawn in
February. There was basically no snow at all except for the squalls
that went through on Friday! But it was still kinda cold, of course.
Mellotron M400 #541 had spent the last few months in a very cool, dry
basement while outside the Vermont winter was in high gear. We saw a
great example of that on Saturday evening when the temperatures bottomed out
at about 8 below zero Fahrenheit. It really wasn't the thing for Lee,
who's not used to this. You see, Lee now lives in Birmingham, Alabama,
which is far south of Vermont and warm/hot and muggy a lot of the year.
Prior to that Lee lived in Hawaii, which bears no resemblance to Vermont at
all (although there is an extinct volcano in New Hampshire). |

The thing is what happens to a Mellotron when it goes from Vermont to
Alabama and starts to feel the effects of the climate change? Now
consider that this Mellotron would be moving to Hawaii with Lee and his new
bride Enjoli (congrats!). So we thought it best that Lee get some hands on
training inside the Mellotron, adjusting keys and lacing tapes.

Basic tape lacing.
But, as with all MONEYPITs, it was starting to get to that time to
wrap things up.-->
