MONEYPIT and several Mellotronists visited The Gatherings (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - USA) and put together a Mellotron Workshop for the evening of December 11, 2004.

	Jeff Coultier organized the workshop
	Jerry Korb discussed the convoluted history of the Mellotron
	Ken Leonard (that's me!) showed a disassembled M400 #1037, explained the parts and the workings, and reassembled the machine
	Jimmy Moore discussed the music and sounds and recording techniques, and he served as the Streetly representative for various questions that came up during the workshop
	Brad Schuman was our Mellotron Demonstrator
	Gino Wong talked about the Mellotron in popular recordings

The Mellotron name is owned by Mellotron Archives. Mellotrons can be purchased from them or from Streetly. You can also get one on EBay. You can find several in dumps in Canada as well.

Do not use these pages for instructions for building a Skellotron. You have to start with a working machine first (which I obviously didn't). Then you have to be clever with sawhorses and power tools. These guys seem to do it right.

The image above of the house with the deer in the front yard has nothing to do with The Gatherings or Mellotrons. We don't know whose house it is. It was just handy.

MELLOTRON TIP: If you have a cat, I recommend putting all the panels onto your Mellotron. Cats love the way the tapes move and like nothing better than to get their claws and teeth into 'em.
