MONEYPIT BOSTON
In this exciting adventure of MONEYPIT we visit the Q Division Recording Studio in Somerville, Massachusetts where they have a Mellotron Mark II and a Chamberlin Music Master 600!
Later we'll take a tour of the Middlesex Canal, a strip of water that used to run from the mills in Lowell, Massachusetts to the seaport of Charlestown, Massachusetts. Click below for...
MONEYPIT JANUARY 2006 MONEYPIT - Mellotron Owners of New England - a.k.a. Mellotron Owners Needing Excessive Yen for Purchases for Improving their 'Trons - exists largely in the mind of Ken Leonard and Jerry Korb, but we've invited others in. The Mellotron is argued to be the creation of Harry Chamberlin and based on his Music Master 600, but even something that blatant usually starts fights, so forget I said it. We'll let dear ol' Harry and those figures of Mellotron lore battle this out. The Mellotron world misses them all. If you're looking for a Mellotron or need one repaired, head to the Mellotronists list or look up Dave and Markus at Mellotron Archives (who own the Mellotron name, by the way), or give John and Martin a jingle at Streetly/Mellotronics. I do only basic repairs/adjustment, up to replacing a motor controller. I leave the busted preamps, wonky power supplies, and cabinet refinishing to the experts. I'll be completely up front about being an amateur and not knowing what I'm doing (about most things, actually). If you're looking to have a Chamberlin repaired...well, after our experience with the Music Master you'd better hire an electrician and have the local fire brigade standing by. Still, the good folks out there will lend a hand (not me, though). Hell, if John and the Streetly Team, Markus, and Jerry can fix Mark IIs, how hard can a Chamby be? Ahem. |
